A task light is usually photographed at night, perfectly positioned over an empty desk. Real rooms are less cooperative. Morning sun moves across the wall. Screens change brightness. Paper, fabric, and polished surfaces ask for different angles.

Beam One was designed around those changes rather than a single ideal scene.

Automation with an edge

Beam One can follow ambient light, but it never takes complete control. A touch on the stem sets a preferred level; a longer press defines how far automatic adjustment may move from it.

That boundary matters. Helpful automation should reduce repeated work without making the object unpredictable. If the lamp surprises you, the feature has failed.
